Toncev speaks about FC Red Star’s European Ambitions

We have great chances to play in the European club competitions next season

Ivica Toncev, FC Red Star's vice president
Vice president of the Belgrade’s FC Red Star told yesterday that the issue of an in-depth investigation and a compliance audit performed at the club's premises was not the subject of the FC Red Star’s managing board meeting.

- ‘We haven’t discussed about the money. We were discussing about previously signed contracts and their contents. Therefore, we will engage lawyers who will clarify to us what are the demands from the UEFA regarding the payables toward clubs and employees’, said Toncev.

- ‘The future investigations should clear who is responsible for these negative effects on the club. The situation in the FC Red Star is very difficult but you must be aware that the current management is not responsible for these problems. In my personal opinion I think that we have over 50% chances to play European football in the next season, said Toncev.

- ‘The club should be privatized but it is my personal opinion regarding all football clubs in Serbia. An official opinion of the FC Red Star regarding that issue will be announced in coming months’, said Toncev.

Some journalists asked Mr. Toncev should politicians leave sport management in Serbia? Mr. Toncev’s answer was delivered in form of question, ‘Who should come instead of politicians? It seems that we shouldn’t be present anywhere’, said Toncev.

Ivica Toncev is member of the Socialist Party of Serbia and currently works as National Security Advisor of Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic. He was also Europran integrations adviser of minister of interior.
